Edmonton makes official $2.3 B bid for Expo 2017

Author: Scott Hennig 2009/12/14

Despite a multi-billion dollar cost that made Calgary withdraw its bid, Edmonton is charging ahead to bid for Expo 2017. Scott Hennig, Alberta Director for the Canadian Taxpayers Federation, says modern-day Expos aren't what they used to be and aren't a wise use of tax dollars.

In a separate CTV report, Edmonton's mayor expressed his hopes that the province would come through with money.

Below, Hennig comments in a Global TV report that compares Expo 2017 and Expo '86.
